Teaching

  • BIOL10007 Diversity of Life B (Y1) – Series of lectures on plant diversity and evolution
  • BIOL20024 Cell and Developmental Biology (Y2) – Series of lectures on developmental processes in plants and animals
  • BIOL30007 Plant Evolution, Development and Diversity (Y3) – Interim unit director 2022/23, lectures on plant development and evolution
  • BIOL30021 Evolution: from Genomes to Biodiversity (Y3) – Unit director, series of lectures on evo-devo

Student supervision:

  • Y3 literature review – Every year I propose a range of topics related to plant development and morphogenesis or the evolution of flowering plants
  • Y3 research project – I supervise lab or field-based projects which involve assessing plant growth and reproductive traits in different plant accessions or species, but also computer-based projects which involve bioinformatics analysis or meta-analysis of literature data on drivers of plant shape diversity
  • Y4 MSci research project – MSci projects typically involve a range of lab experiments. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their projects by thinking critically and developing their own ideas.
  • MSc Bioinformatics – Bioinformatics projects are usually based on the study of gene evolution of developmental genes.
